Motorola Edge S gets Snapdragon 870 processor
Rumors about the Motorola Edge S have been around for some time. The device seems to be the successor to the Motorola Edge, which was released in April 2020 for 599 euros. Motorola recently confirmed the existence of the Edge S and is now reporting on Chinese social media that the smartphone will see the light of day on January 26.
In addition, Motorola indicates that the Edge S runs on the Snapdragon 870 processor from manufacturer Qualcomm. This chip was recently announced and falls between last year’s Snapdragon 865 Plus and this year’s Snapdragon 888 in terms of performance. The Snapdragon 888 is the best chip at the moment and comes in the most expensive devices, while the 870 is intended for high-end smartphones with a lower price tag.
The Motorola Edge S will therefore not be a competitor for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra or the upcoming OnePlus 9 Pro. However, what the smartphone will cost is still unknown.
Specifications of the Edge S
Previously, some important specifications of the smartphone appeared. For example, it seems that the device will have a large 6.7-inch screen with full-HD resolution and curved edges. The Motorola Edge also has such a curved screen. The Edge S’s display is said to have a different refresh rate of 105Hz for a smooth image.
Another source showed via leaked photos that the Edge S has two selfie cameras in the screen. The device may have 128GB of storage memory.
Other features include a 5000 mAh battery and four rear cameras, including a 64 megapixel main camera. The Motorola Edge S will most likely run on Android 11 when it is released.
