The OxygenOS 11 launcher installed on recent OnePlus smartphones now also works on older devices. OnePlus has updated the homescreen replacement via the Play Store. We list the changes.

New launcher for older OnePlus smartphones
The OxygenOS 11 Launcher is OnePlus’ app that replaces the standard Android home screen. OnePlus’ launcher offers, among other things, more extensive gesture control, more visual adjustments and a separate screen with shortcuts and information. This screen is called the Shelf.
The OxygenOS 11 Launcher was already available on OnePlus devices with Android 11, including the OnePlus 8 Pro. OnePlus has made version 11 of the launcher app via an update in the Play Store now also suitable for smartphones with Android 10. Those devices will later get Android 11 and therefore already benefit from some improvements.
The following smartphones are compatible with the OxygenOS 11 Launcher:
- OnePlus 6 and 6T
- OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro
- OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro
- OnePlus Nord
- OnePlus Nord N10 5G (later this week)
- OnePlus Nord 100 (later this week)
The latest version of the launcher offers, among other things, the renewed Shelf screen that looks fresher and pays more attention to the weather forecast. You can also search easier and in more ways via gesture apps. OnePlus claims the launcher update also implements bug fixes.
Android 11 on the way
The launcher update gives a taste of the Android 11 experience, but the real update is delayed. OnePlus recently released an Open Beta of Android 11 for the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro and 7T and 7T Pro. Those devices will probably receive the final update in a few weeks.
The OnePlus Nord, OnePlus N10 5G and N100 will also get Android 11. OnePlus recently announced that the older 6 and 6T are also on the list for an Android 11 update, but owners of these smartphones still have to be patient.
The OnePlus 8 series now runs on Android 11 including the OxygenOS 11 Launcher. You can read more about the latest smartphone in our OnePlus 8T review.
