‘These are the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 specifications’

The usually reliable website WinFuture shares the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5, a sturdy ‘rugged’ smartphone. The device would have a small 5.3 inch screen with a resolution of 1600 by 720 pixels. As a result, images look sharp on this screen size and you can also operate the device more easily with one hand. Incidentally, it is an LCD display, and not one with an AMOLED panel as with many other Samsung phones.

Under the hood is an Exynos 850 processor, which Samsung previously put in the Galaxy A21s. The chip is not very fast, but smooth enough to run most apps smoothly. According to the source, there is also 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage space. In contrast to, for example, the Galaxy A32 and Galaxy A42, 5G support is lacking: the Xcover 5 can only handle 4G.

Because the Galaxy Xcover 5 must be able to take a beating, the device is IP68 and MIL-STD-810G certified. As a result, the phone survives heavy falls. Also present is an NFC chip for mobile payments and thanks to Samsung Know the Xcover 5 is well secured. The smartphone would also run on Android 11; this is the most recent version of the operating system.

Removable battery and fast charging

Finally, a single 16-megapixel camera would be on the back, while a simple 5-megapixel selfie camera would be present on the front. The battery is not very large at 3000 mAh, but it is interchangeable. This means you can simply put a new battery in the device when the phone is empty, or when the original battery is worn out. Charging is nice and smooth thanks to the 15 Watt fast charging function.

It is still unclear when Samsung will officially announce the Xcover 5 and what the device will cost exactly. We also do not yet know what the design will look like. According to WinFuture, the sturdy smartphone will cost ‘just under 300 euros’, but this is still uncertain.
