Change background in Signal
By default, Signal has a white or dark background, depending on your phone’s settings. However, it is also possible to make chats look different. For example, you can choose a fresh color or add a photo you made yourself to the background of your Signal chat. It works like this:
- Open the Signal app and go to the conversation whose background you want to change;
- Tap the name at the top, scroll down a bit and choose Conversation Background;
- Press ‘Choose conversation background’ and select one of the standard Signal colors, or tap ‘Choose from gallery’ to use your own photo.
- Confirm your choice by pressing the button at the bottom.
You should now see the color / own photo in the background. Don’t like this view? Then you can of course choose a new background for Signal via the steps above. When you get stuck completely, you can tap ‘Remove this background’ in the Conversation background menu at the bottom. From then on, Signal switches back to the default background (white or black).
More about Signal
For years Signal was a chat app in the lee, but this has changed. More and more people are looking for alternatives to WhatsApp and find a new home in Signal. The organization behind this chat app is not for profit and is known for its high quality privacy.
Signal, for example, does not store meta information, unlike WhatsApp. The app does not know what your location is and what kind of phone you have. WhatsApp will register all of this. Signal only needs your phone number and will not track you.
