‘Renders show Sony Xperia 1 III’
Sony gives the Xperia 1 III almost the same design as its predecessor, the Sony Xperia 1 II. This is evident from renders of OnLeaks. The usually reliable telecom insider regularly shares images of smartphones that have not yet been announced. As a result, we already have a good idea of what Sony’s new flagship looks like.
Just like the previous model, the Sony Xperia 1 III gets a 6.5-inch OLED screen with a high 4K resolution and an aspect ratio of 21 by 9. Many films are recorded in this format, so you can enter a mini-cinema. your pocket.
With 161.1 by 67.3 millimeters, the device would be slightly smaller than the Xperia 1 II. Sony has made the bezels thinner, although the manufacturer maintains relatively large bezels above and below the display. In addition to the stereo speakers, we also find the front camera there. The phone does not have a hole or notch in the screen.
The renders of the Sony Xperia 1 III also show that the device again gets three cameras on the back. Nothing is known yet about the specifications of the primary sensor, but the telecamera seems to be a major upgrade. This is because it is a periscope lens, with which you can probably zoom in far without loss of quality. In addition, there is again a Time of Flight sensor that collects depth information. That should ensure accurate portraits.
High-end specifications, high price
The first specifications of the Sony Xperia 1 III leaked out at the end of December. The smartphone will probably run on the high-end Snapdragon 888, will have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. According to OnLeaks, there is a memory card slot with which you can expand the storage space. Good news for audiophiles: the Sony Xperia 1 III probably also has an ‘old-fashioned’ headphone jack.
What the phone will cost is still unknown, but the device will not be cheap. Its predecessor sold for 1199 euros in the Netherlands. We wrote in our review of the Sony Xperia 1 II that we actually found that too expensive.
