Sony Xperia Compact 2021 renders: small but nice
Renders have appeared of an upcoming Sony Xperia Compact smartphone. These computer-made images have been put online by the famous Lekker Steve Hemmerstoffer on Voice. Rumors that the manufacturer would work on such a smaller model again for release in 2021 have been circulating earlier.
According to Hemmerstoffer, the device measures 140 by 68.9 by 8.9 millimeters and has a 5.5-inch screen. With those dimensions, the device is slightly larger than the iPhone 12 mini from competitor Apple. The smartphone will have a flat screen on board, with relatively thick screen edges and chin.
There is also a notch in which the front camera is incorporated. This allows you to shoot selfies of up to 8 megapixels. It will be one of the first devices from Sony with such a notch, while almost all manufacturers have long since switched to a small hole in the screen. Charging can be done via the USB-C port on the bottom of the device.
The upcoming Compact has a headphone jack on the top. The right side houses the volume and camera buttons. Finally, the on / off button with the fingerprint scanner has also been placed there.
“New Compact becomes budget device”
In the message on Voice, no further details are shared about the specifications or price of the new device. Website XperiaBlog says he knows that it is a budget device. So do not expect a high-end Snapdragon chip, a lot of RAM or the best cameras and display.
In Hemmerstoffer’s renders we do see two cameras on the back, assisted by a flash. Many details are also not yet known, but the main camera shoots images of up to 13 megapixels.
More Sony smartphones in 2021
In addition to this compact device, we expect even more new smartphones from the manufacturer this year. For example, renders have recently appeared of the alleged Sony Xperia 10 III. We also expect successors to the Sony Xperia 5 II and the top model, the Sony Xperia 1 II.
