that’s how fast it goes via usb-c and wireless

Charge Samsung Galaxy S21 via usb-c

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S20, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra in early January as successors to the S20 series. The devices have, among other things, better cameras, a new design and lower prices than their predecessors. What has changed in charging and why is there no charger left in the box? We will explain it to you.

The Galaxy S21 models can charge with up to 25 Watts via the USB-C port. That is as fast as the S20 series. So at this point, Samsung has not improved its latest smartphones. That is not a disaster, because charging is nice and smooth.

Refilling the Galaxy S21’s 4000 mAh battery takes 73 minutes. The S21 Plus uses a 4800 mAh battery and the S21 Ultra has a 5000 mAh battery. The S21 Ultra needs 71 minutes before it is completely full.

That the S21 series sticks to the 25 Watt charger is a shame for those who had seen a more powerful charging technique. There are certainly. For example, OnePlus supplies the OnePlus 8T with a 65 Watt adapter, such a 65 Watt charger is also included in the box of the Oppo Find X2 (Pro) and the Huawei P40 Pro comes with a 40 Watt plug.

Wireless charging takes longer

The Galaxy S21 models can also charge wirelessly via the Qi standard. This is the most popular technology for wireless charging of smartphones. The S21 series charges in this way with a maximum of 15 watts. That is a lot slower than wired (25 Watt), which makes the method especially interesting if you are not in a hurry. For example because you charge your device at night.

The S20 series also charges wirelessly with 15 Watts. If you don’t have a wireless charger yet, you can, for example, Samsungs official 15 Watt wireless charger for about forty euros.

Note: no charger included

One point of attention is that Samsung no charger in the Galaxy S21, S21 Plus or S21 Ultra box. According to the manufacturer, this is done to protect the environment. It means that you have to arrange a charger yourself. A USB-C cable is included.

If you want to purchase a charger, it is best to take a 25 Watt USB-C charger. This is how the S21 charges the fastest. Samsungs official 25 Watt charger costs 23 euros or 29 euros if you have the charger with extra usb-c cable (1 meter).
