The 4 best Android apps of the past week
The Play Store works overtime every week. New apps, updates for existing programs and games are being added all the time. You probably won’t notice this, because most of it is not worth downloading. Android Planet therefore separates the wheat from the chaff every Sunday. These are the best Android apps, updates and games this week.
1. Titan Quest: Legendary Edition
Developer HandyGames released the final version of Titan Quest last week. For two bucks you therefore not only get the game itself, but also all expansions (dlc). Have you already purchased the base game? Then you can download the extensions free of charge. The extended version of Titan Quest guarantees dozens of hours of fun.
Titan Quest is an action-packed roleplaying game. The original was released on PC in 2006 and in the game you take on the role of a soldier who fights against the so-called Titans. The game takes place in ancient Greece and during the defeat of hordes of enemies you acquire new skills and your character becomes stronger and stronger. You can fight with swords, bows & arrows and magic.

Instagram rolled out an update last week that allows users to restore deleted videos and photos. The new ‘trash can function’ aims to make life difficult for hackers. It used to be possible to penetrate a (poorly secured) account and then remove all media.
The update ensures that deleted photos and videos are kept for up to 30 days after deletion. When users want to restore these files, they must first verify with Instagram. This can be done by e-mail or text message. After 30 days in the trash, everything will be permanently deleted.

3. Slay the Spire
Slay the Spire, an award-winning strategy game from 2019, released on Android last week. The game can best be described as a combination between a classic, old-fashioned card game and an action game. Your ultimate goal is to beat the Spire, as you’d expect from the title.
You do this by laying down tactical cards. Each card has its own unique points, but also weaknesses. For example, some cards are very strong in the direct attack, while others, for example, can change circumstances and thus weaken your opponent.

4. Edison Mail
Mail app Edison has made a major update last week. The biggest addition is the introduction of Edison Mail Plus, a paid service. With a price of 9.99 euros per month, this subscription is anything but cheap, but it is very useful for avid e-mailers.
Edison Mail Plus runs on three pillars. Firstly, the service proactively checks whether emails you receive do not contain malicious software such as malware. Mail Plus is also very good at tracking down contact details. For example, if you receive a call from an unknown number, the mail service often knows who is trying to reach you on the basis of the 06. Mail Plus, for example, also searches directly for the LinkedIn profiles of people who email you.
