These Android smartphones received a (security) update – week 2

A quiet week in terms of updates. Samsung did, however, pick up the Android 11 update for the Galaxy S10 series in the Netherlands, because the reports poured in. In addition, we saw some smaller updates for various Nokia’s.

The Android security update overview from week 2 – 2021

Android Planet keeps you up to date on smartphone updates every day. Usually this concerns devices that receive a version update, for example if they are updated to Android 10 or Android 11. However, security updates are just as important. These patches keep troubles like adware, malware, ransomware and fleeceware at bay. Such updates roll out all year round. In this overview we compile a weekly overview of the security updates. Is your device in the list below, but you haven’t received anything yet? No worries. It usually takes a few days to weeks for all instances of a device to be updated.


The Motorola One Vision is provided with the January 2021 security patch.


Manufacturer HMD Global is rolling out a security update for two of its smartphones. You are not completely up-to-date yet, because these are patches from December. The Nokia 8.1 is completely up to date thanks to the most recent update.

The Android 11 update for the Galaxy S10 series also started last week in the Netherlands, but was put on the back burner. That is why we have included this update again in this article. For the A41, an update is rolling out with a renewed version of the Android shell from the manufacturer.

No update?

Is your device not listed? Which can. Manufacturers release updates throughout the year, so maybe your device will be there next time. Even if your smartphone is on the list, you may still need to be patient. It usually takes a few days to a week for an Android security update to be rolled out to all devices.
