These Android smartphones received a (security) update – week 4


The February patch will already be offered in the last week of January and the first devices. In addition, there are also smartphones that are offered the Android 11 update or security updates.

The Android security update overview from week 4 – 2021

Android Planet updates you daily about smartphone updates. Usually it concerns devices that receive a version update, for example if they are updated to Android 10 or Android 11. However, security updates are just as important. These patches keep troubles like adware, malware, ransomware and fleeceware at bay. Such updates roll out all year round. In this overview we compile a weekly overview of the security updates. Is your device in the list below, but you haven’t received anything yet? No worries. It usually takes a few days to weeks for all instances of a device to be updated.

Honor

The Honor 20 will be offered the December security patch.

Huawei is rolling out security updates for several of its devices.

For LG’s V40, the December patch is ready to install.

Motorola

Manufacturer Motorola is also rolling out a small patch for one of the devices.

Nokia

Nokia has provided even more smartphones with the recent January security update.

Poco

Poco and the X3 NFC model are another match in terms of update this week.

Samsung

Manufacturer Samsung is rolling out multiple updates, both the Android 11 update and a mix of older and the most recent security patches.

Samsung Galaxy S20

Xiaomi

The Mi 9T Pro from Xiaomi can be provided with the most recent update.

No update?

Is your device not listed? Which can. Manufacturers release updates throughout the year, so maybe your device will be there next time. Even if your smartphone is on the list, you may still need to be patient. It usually takes a few days to a week for an Android security update to be rolled out to all devices.
