The Close Share function now also lets you share apps or games from the Play Store. The receiver does not need an active internet connection for this. You can read exactly how the function works in this tip.

Share nearby: this is how you share apps and games from the Play Store
The Close Share function allows you to easily exchange all kinds of files between smartphones and tablets. From now on it is also possible to directly transfer an app or game from the Play Store from device to device.
Use the step-by-step plan below to share Play Store apps directly:
- Grab your phone and open the Play Store;
- Tap the three lines at the top left;
Tap ‘My apps and games’
- Choose the fourth tab ‘Share’;
- Then tap ‘Send’;
- Check the apps or games you want to send;
- Tap the shipping triangle at the top right;
- Grab the other smartphone and follow the further steps.
For example, on the device on which you want to receive the app or games, you also have to open the Share tab, but choose ‘receive’ there. If the devices recognize each other, a pairing code can be seen on both smartphones. If it is the same on both devices, you can choose ‘receive’ on the receiving device, after which the content will be transferred immediately.
More about ‘Close sharing’
With the option Share nearby, also known as Nearby Share, you can easily and quickly share files wirelessly with all kinds of devices. That works from Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) on smartphones and tablets, but later also with Chromebooks.
The selected recipient will always receive a notification, allowing him or her to accept or decline the file transfer. Finally, the most stable and fastest connection is always chosen. Sending can be done via bluetooth, WebRTC or a peer-to-peer WiFi network.
If you have never used the function, you will probably see different questions and options the first time. These concern, for example, the visibility of your device or the data usage of the function.
If you want to watch it again later, follow:
- Dive into the settings of your smartphone;
- Go to ‘Bluetooth and device connection’;
- Select ‘Close sharing’;
- Adjust the settings there if necessary.
