‘200 megapixel camera on ZTE Axon 30 Pro’
Devices like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra currently offer the highest resolution on a smartphone with a 108 megapixel camera. That could change soon. The ZTE Axon 30 Pro may get a primary camera that has a resolution of no less than 200 megapixels.
Although this new sensor is relatively large, the individual pixels are quite small. That is why you can probably also opt for photos with a lower resolution. Pixels are then merged, which should ensure a nicer result. In addition, with this sensor it would be possible to record video with a resolution of 16K. There is currently no phone that can do that.
Ni Fei, the boss of ZTE, wrote on the Chinese social network Weibo that the Axon 30 Pro gets the best camera system on the market. However, he did not mention any details. It is clear that the smartphone will run on the Snapdragon 888. That is also the only chip that is powerful enough to drive a 200 megapixel camera.
It is not yet known when ZTE will announce the Axon 30 Pro. Nor will the device be for sale in the Netherlands.
ZTE is committed to records
ZTE has been heavily committed to records and innovations lately. For example, in September 2020, the company officially announced the ZTE Axon 20 5G. That is the first smartphone with a front camera behind the screen. The device therefore has no notch, camera hole or extendable lens. Instead, the display is partially transparent, allowing the camera to ‘see’ through it.
The well-known YouTuber MKBHD, who regularly tests smartphones, was not very enthusiastic about the device. You can still see the camera under certain lighting conditions. Moreover, he calls the quality of the selfies considerably below par.
